EICTP Expert Paper: Extremist Traits in Parts of the Climate Protest Movement

Prof. Dr. Eckhard Jesse describes in his paper on the climate protest movement that the protest movement shows problematic traits. This applies, on the one hand, to the unresolved relationship to violence. Although this is rejected in theory, in practice it is sometimes accepted by militant forces. Secondly, and this point is more serious, the understanding of democracy of these radical climate activists leaves much to be desired. The democratic constitutional state is based on the acceptance of rules of the game that must be followed. A number of other questionable points are in tension with democratic principles.
This article is published in advance as an e-version and will be part of a new EICTP publication on the climate protest movement, which will be published in May.

The article is currently only available in German.
