On September 29, EICTP participated in the International Security Forum Bonn, which took place from September 29 until October 2, 2022, in Bonn, Germany. The International Security Forum Bonn is a high-level international event to ensure a dialogue on contemporary topics of foreign and security politics. The goal of the International Security Forum is to ensure a debate between experts and practitioners, to identify vital aspects of a successful European foreign and security policy, and develop holistic strategical solutions for pressing challenges.
During the Main Day, which was themed ‘“Zeitenwende” – A New Era in International Relations and Security Cooperation’, the future of transatlantic relations in the shadow of Russian aggression against Ukraine was discussed by renowned experts. Among the most prominent questions was: What will be the expected transformations of the transatlantic alliance, and German, U.S. and European foreign and security policy in the face of Russian acts of violence on the EU’s borders? Moreover, the conference explicitly discussed the possibilities of the middle powers.
