On April 22, 2026, Nomos Verlag published the new book “Political Islam – A Hybrid Threat to Europe: The Muslim Brotherhood’s ‘Civilization Jihad’” by Heiko Heinisch, Nina Scholz, and EICTP Secretary General Gustav E. Gustenau. The publication examines the ideology, structures, and strategies of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe and analyzes political Islam from a societal and security policy perspective. A particular focus is placed on classifying the Muslim Brotherhood’s long-term strategy as a hybrid challenge to European democracies. With this publication, the EICTP continues its academic and security policy examination of the phenomenon of political Islam and its impact on Europe.
